چکیده

This report describes some of the highlights of the present state of construction of the Stanford 20 GeV Linear Accelerator. Comprehensive descriptions, statistics and specifications of the two-mile line1ar electron accelerator have been given on numerous other occasions and will not be included here. By the nature of progress in our construction schedule, hopefully a substantial fraction of the information and pictures given in this report will soon become obsolete.

Progress Report on High - Gradient Rf Studies in Copper Accelerator Structures

This paper is a progress report on studies carried out at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center to understand the behavior of copperaccelerator structures under extreinely high RF fields. Such structures are being designed for future electron-positron linear colliders. Recent studies include field emission and breakdown experiments with an S-band slotted-disk structure, a single demountable S-...

Recent Progress in High-gain Fel Theory

High-gain free electron lasers (FEL) are being developed as extremely bright x-ray sources of a next-generation radiation facility. In this paper, we review the basic theory and the recent progress in understanding the startup, the exponential growth and the saturation of the high-gain process, emphasizing the self-amplified spontaneous emission (SASE). We will also discuss how the FEL performa...

SLAC -PUB-233 October 1966 THE STANFORD TWO-MILE LINEAR ACCELERATOR*

In April 1957, Stanfc:rd University proposed the construction of a two-mile long linear electron accelerator capable of accelerating electrons to energies of 10 to 20 CeV for use in physics research. Congressional authorization for this machine was given in September 1961, and construction of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) started in July 1962 on 480 acres of land near Stanford U...

SNUTP 96-087 hep-th/9609115 RECENT PROGRESS IN STRING INFLATIONARY COSMOLOGY

Super–inflation driven by dilaton/moduli kinetic energy is naturally realized in compactified string theory. Discussed are selected topics of recent development in string inflationary cosmology: kinematics of super-inflation, graceful exit triggered by quantum back reaction, and classical and quantum power spectra of density and metric perturbations. † Invited Talk given at 7th Asian-Pacific Re...
